Networking, collaboration and learning: an FKF delegate at the ECOSOC Youth Forum 2024
Representing the foundation at the United Nations offered a multifaceted experience — and positioned FKF as a voice in the global discourse on youth.
Attending the ECOSOC Youth Forum 2024 as a delegate of the Francis Koroma Foundation offered a multifaceted experience rich in networking, collaboration and learning. Throughout the forum, I engaged in a variety of activities designed to facilitate meaningful interactions and knowledge exchange among fellow participants.
Networking played a pivotal role. I had the opportunity to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and sectors — from government officials to representatives of grassroots organisations — and each interaction offered a unique perspective on youth development and sustainability. These connections not only expanded my professional network but opened doors for potential partnerships that could amplify the impact of the foundation's vision.
Collaboration emerged as a central theme, with sessions dedicated to exploring how different stakeholders could work together to address the challenges facing young people globally, and to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in their respective countries.
Through plenary sessions and side events, I had the chance to contribute insights from the foundation's work while learning from the experiences of others. Together, we brainstormed innovative solutions and forged alliances with the potential to drive positive change in communities around the world. Presenting the initiatives and projects of the Francis Koroma Foundation enhanced our visibility and positioned us as a key player in the global discourse on youth issues.
My experience at the forum was transformative. By leveraging networking opportunities, fostering collaboration and engaging in meaningful discussions, I believe such a platform remains unequivocally important — and that we must take positive steps to refine and advance youth engagement and partnership in the multilateral world.
