Mentorship Network

One-to-one guidance through the leap from secondary school to university, and on into early careers.

About the programme

One-to-one guidance through the leap from school to university and beyond.

Students in Freetown and beyond face real constraints on access to the mentorship that helps them choose a career pathway — the kind of support that helps a young person learn new skills and make the right decision at the moment it matters most. The Mentorship Network exists to close that gap.

At its centre is the FKF College Admission Program, a three-to-six-month mentorship that walks students through the early stages of the college application process. Mentors meet their mentees two to four times a term, offering academic support, career guidance and encouragement.

The network is made up of 300 volunteers across eight nations. Mentees have gone on to fully-funded university places and to some of the world's most selective summer programmes, including Yale Young Global Scholars.
