An invitation from the Department of State to the Secretary's MSI Conference
Francis Koroma is invited to join Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken for the second annual Minority Serving Institutions Conference in Washington.
Our president and founder, Francis Koroma, was honoured to receive an invitation from the U.S. Department of State to join Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken for the Second Annual Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) Conference in 2024, to discuss the importance of connecting diversity across the spectrum of U.S. foreign policy.
Secretary Blinken delivered opening remarks at the conference in the Loy Henderson Auditorium at the Department of State. Organised by the Bureau of Global Public Affairs and the Bureau of Global Talent Management, the conference followed the success of the inaugural MSI conference in 2023, along with 13 previous conferences for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and three symposia for students of Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
The conference is open to undergraduate and graduate students attending higher education institutions that serve minority students — the very students the foundation works to move from classroom to career, and whose perspectives too rarely reach the rooms where foreign policy is made.
For the Francis Koroma Foundation, an invitation of this kind is a reminder of why the work matters: the pathways we build for young people do not stop at a university place. They lead to the tables where decisions about their futures are taken.
